The Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) is no longer accepting the plant variety applications without the DUS test fee and the planting material. The seeds are to be submitted at the time of filing the application, and the non-seed based vegetative propagules may be submitted within 10 days of the filing of the application, otherwise the application is not taken on record. This is a new practice in line with the Act and they have done away with the earlier practice of accepting applications without the plant material.
